Ethiopia's Ministry of Finance plans to issue 73.23 billion birr in one-year Treasury Bills between October and December 2026, the Ministry said. This forms part of a larger 133.97 billion birr issuance programme scheduled for the second quarter of the 2019 Ethiopian Fiscal Year. The bills will be offered through six auctions with various maturity periods ranging from 28 days to one year.
The largest portion of the planned issuance, around 115.66 billion birr, will be split between six-month and one-year securities. The Ministry allocated 42.43 billion birr to 182-day bills, 15.26 billion birr to 91-day bills, and 3.05 billion birr to 28-day bills, according to the auction calendar.
Auctions will begin on October 14 with an offering of 23.39 billion birr, followed by issuances on October 28, November 11, November 25, December 9 and December 23. The November 11 auction will be the largest, at 30.99 billion birr, while the November 25 auction will be the smallest at 15.51 billion birr. One-year bills will dominate all auctions.
The Ministry of Finance said it will update the auction calendar at the end of each month on a rolling basis, providing participants with a three-month forward outlook for Treasury Bill offerings.
