How to report a mistake
Email [email protected] with the link to the story or figure and what you believe is wrong. If you can, include where the correct information comes from.
What we do
We check every report. If a fact, figure, name or date is wrong, we correct the story and add a note at the end saying what changed and when, for example: "Corrected 16 October 2026: an earlier version gave the wrong inflation figure." We do not quietly change facts without saying so.
Small fixes
Spelling, grammar and formatting fixes that do not change the meaning of a story are made without a note.
Market data
If a market figure is wrong or out of date, we correct it at the source of the data on our site and note the date the figure refers to. See where our numbers come from.
Stories we remove
We very rarely remove a story. If we do, for example for a legal reason, we say so on the story page rather than letting the link disappear.
