The International Monetary Fund has warned that ongoing conflicts in Ethiopia pose a significant threat to the economy and the government's reform programme. The IMF said in a statement that its staff are monitoring developments closely to assess any potential impact on a 3.4-billion-dollar financing arrangement.
The Fund's staff are evaluating whether renewed fighting could affect the implementation of the financing programme. However, the IMF did not say in its statement that Ethiopia has breached any targets, fallen off track or had disbursements suspended.
