Omoda and Jaecoo expand warranty support to boost Nigeria sales

The Chinese automakers are strengthening after-sales operations and warranty coverage globally, addressing concerns that typically influence vehicle purchases in Nigeria.

Chinese automotive brands Omoda and Jaecoo are expanding their warranty programmes and after-sales support networks as they seek to build customer confidence across their global markets. The move comes at a time when spare parts availability, maintenance expertise and reliable service infrastructure remain key factors influencing vehicle purchasing decisions for Nigerian motorists.

The brands offer varying warranty terms depending on the market. In the United Kingdom, Omoda and Jaecoo vehicles are covered by a seven-year or 100,000-mile warranty, with batteries on electrified models receiving eight-year coverage. Both companies are promoting their Super Hybrid System, which combines petrol and electric power to reduce fuel consumption while retaining the convenience of traditional refuelling.

Performance credentials are building brand reputation internationally. The Jaecoo J7 PHEV was Britain's best-selling new SUV in September and holds a Guinness World Record for the lowest fuel consumption achieved by a plug-in hybrid production SUV completing the UK Three Peaks Challenge. The flagship Jaecoo J8 offers 428 horsepower, all-wheel drive and more than 130 kilometres of electric-only driving range. In Indonesia, a Jaecoo vehicle set a Guinness World Record by covering a verified 1,660 kilometres on a single tank and charge.

The companies are investing in parts distribution infrastructure to support their growing customer base. A 12,000-square-metre parts centre opened in Dubai's Jebel Ali Free Zone in December 2024, stocking more than 20,000 different components. Expansion plans are already underway in South Africa, with additional facilities planned across continents. For Nigeria's automotive market, where customers increasingly weigh total ownership costs before purchasing, the availability of warranty coverage, spare parts and competent maintenance support could become significant competitive advantages for the brands.
