Artificial intelligence firm Anthropic saw revenue jump 45% to $16.8bn in the three months to the end of September, the BBC understands. The company revealed the figures during investor briefings at its San Francisco headquarters on Wednesday as it prepares for a stock market listing expected before the end of the year.
Anthropic's revenue has grown substantially throughout 2026, climbing from $4.7bn in the first quarter to $11.6bn in the second quarter before reaching $16.8bn in the latest period. The company also reported making a profit for the second quarter in a row, according to reports.
The strong financial performance comes as some technology stocks face pressure over concerns about the scale of investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure. Shares in chip makers including AMD, Nvidia and Intel fell sharply on Wednesday. In Asia, Japanese firm Softbank dropped 9% on Thursday morning, while South Korean semiconductor companies Samsung and SK Hynix fell by 8.4% and more than 6% respectively.
The selloff follows comments from Broadcom chief executive Hock Tan at a Singapore conference on Monday, who suggested many investors lack understanding of the sector and have unrealistic expectations. Meanwhile, rival OpenAI said in September it will not pursue a public listing this year while it addresses technology safety concerns.
