OMAA launches electric buses with 48-month financing plan

Nigerian vehicle maker OMAA has unveiled three new passenger bus models in electric and gas variants, along with a financing programme to help transport operators spread purchase costs over four years.

OMAA, a Nigerian vehicle and energy company, has introduced three new passenger vehicle models available in compressed natural gas and battery-electric variants, along with a financing scheme aimed at making fleet purchases more manageable for transport operators and organisations. The three models - the OMAA U3 minibus, K7 bus and V12 high-capacity city bus - cover passenger transportation needs ranging from small shuttles to large-scale mass transit operations. The company has opened pre-orders allowing operators to choose between powertrains based on operational requirements, route characteristics and energy infrastructure availability.

OMAA Finance, developed with leading Nigerian financial institutions, offers repayment terms of up to 48 months. The programme addresses a major challenge facing commercial transport operators: the high upfront cost of vehicle acquisition and difficulty matching repayment obligations with operating revenue. The financing proposition combines structured monthly repayments with locally supported servicing and spare-parts availability.

The three models serve different market segments. The U3 is a 12-to-15-seater minibus for urban and intercity operators. The K7 carries 23 to 30 passengers for staff transportation and school buses. The V12 high-capacity city bus carries between 43 and 70 passengers for mass transit operators. All models are also available in special-purpose configurations including cargo vans, ambulances and airport shuttles.

Chinedu Oguegbu, OMAA's Managing Director, said the vehicles and financing initiative represent the company's commitment to strengthening local automotive manufacturing while expanding access to cleaner transportation. OMAA, headquartered in Umunya, Anambra State, operates across Nigeria and Ghana. The company was marking its sixth anniversary with the announcement.
