Moniepoint UK Limited, the British arm of Nigerian fintech Moniepoint Inc., recorded revenue of $36,284 in 2025, with the company attributing the low figure to just one month of activity after MonieWorld customers were transferred to the entity in December, according to annual accounts filed with UK regulators. The subsidiary reported a loss after tax of $226,172 despite gross profit of $10,220, and held total assets of $769,703 at year-end.
Moniepoint acquired Bancom Europe Limited in July 2025 for $2.51 million in equity and rebranded it as Moniepoint UK Limited in September, gaining access to an electronic money institution authorised by the UK's Financial Conduct Authority. The company had previously operated MonieWorld through a third-party arrangement with PayrNet Limited, an electronic money institution within the Railsr group.
Technology and communication expenses totalled $125,838 in 2025, more than three times the reported revenue. The company also incurred $14,464 in bank and partner fees and $11,600 in foreign-exchange transaction expenses. MonieWorld, launched in April 2025 to compete in the UK-Nigeria remittance corridor valued at £2.76 billion ($3.69 billion), had recorded 70 percent monthly growth in transaction volumes before Moniepoint announced plans to discontinue the diaspora-focused business.
Moniepoint attributed the discontinuation decision to a review of group priorities, saying it would focus on its platform for African businesses. The product remains operational, leaving unclear whether the company is pursuing a gradual withdrawal or a different operating arrangement. What remains certain is that Moniepoint now faces the challenge of justifying its regulated UK presence after exiting the remittance market that initially drove its expansion.
