US consumer prices rose 0.6 percent in September on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. Over the past year, inflation climbed 3.7 percent when not adjusted for seasonal swings.
Core inflation, which strips out volatile food and energy costs, increased 0.3 percent during the month. On an annual basis, core prices were up 2.6 percent, the Bureau said.
The figures provide a snapshot of price pressures across the economy as Americans face the costs of everyday goods and services heading into the final months of the year.
