I&M Bank launches expanded asset financing for Ugandan businesses

I&M Bank Uganda is offering businesses financing for pickup trucks and tractors to help them acquire equipment without depleting working capital.

I&M Bank Uganda Limited has launched the second phase of its Tukikube ne I&M Bank campaign, broadening asset financing options for businesses seeking to purchase pickup trucks, tractors and other productive equipment. The bank said eligible customers can access financing for a new pickup truck at a monthly payment of shs4.6 million and a new tractor at shs2.3 million, through partnerships with Victoria Motors and Ndovu Motors respectively.

The campaign launch took place in Jinja and was led by I&M Bank Uganda Chief Executive Officer Robin Bairstow. He said the initiative reflects the bank's commitment to helping businesses obtain the assets and financial knowledge needed for sustainable growth. Bairstow noted that businesses succeed when they have access to appropriate financing and business knowledge, enabling them to invest, expand and maintain stability.

The bank's asset financing solutions target institutions and enterprises in education, healthcare, construction, transport and sustainable energy sectors. Victoria Motors said it will provide two years of maintenance support for vehicles acquired under the campaign, while Ndovu Motors highlighted its approach of offering equipment delivery, guidance on machinery use and complimentary servicing during an initial operating period.

The launch featured a discussion on asset financing for family businesses, with panellists addressing how companies can finance productive assets without tying up capital needed for operations. The discussion also examined succession planning in preserving family-owned enterprises across generations.
