Tanzania has stressed the importance of strengthening ties with Russia in the mining sector, focusing on adding value to minerals within the country, transferring modern technologies and building local expertise. Deputy Minister for Minerals Dr Steven Kiruswa made the call during the Russia-Africa Raw Materials Dialogue in Saint Petersburg.
Tanzanian officials say that processing minerals domestically rather than exporting raw materials can increase returns from the sector and help develop domestic technical capacity.
