Kenya's National Assembly has reduced the publication period for the Tax Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, from 14 days to 10 days. Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah moved the procedural motion under Standing Order 120, which was seconded by Owen Baya and approved by the House after a vote.
Ichung'wah told Parliament the shortened timeline was necessary to allow lawmakers to complete consideration of the tax bill by the end of the following week. The accelerated process means Parliament will have less time between publishing the proposed legislation and voting on it during the final stages of approval.
