The Ministry of Local Government concluded a three-day induction for lower local government leaders from Buruli County in Masindi District. The training covered legislation, communication skills, planning and budgeting, human resource management, mindset change and other aspects of effective leadership, aimed at strengthening accountability and service delivery at the grassroots.
Kijunjubwa Town Council LCIII Chairperson Jassi Yahaya, speaking on behalf of participants, praised the facilitators from the Ministry for providing practical knowledge to help leaders execute their responsibilities more effectively. He said the training had enhanced understanding of leadership roles and would help them serve their communities better.
However, Yahaya appealed to the government's top leadership to consider increasing facilitation for lower local government leaders, arguing that improved support would motivate them to perform their duties more effectively.
Masindi District Chairperson Patrick Wobusobozi challenged the leaders to translate the knowledge into practical action. He urged them to promote security, unity and peace in their communities, take a firm stand against corruption, and uphold integrity, transparency and accountability in executing their duties.
