Tanzania's government has called for greater accountability and transparency in how development resources are spent, saying such funds must align with national priorities and be properly incorporated into government budgets to drive economic growth. Rished Bade, the Commissioner for External Finance in the Ministry of Finance, made the remarks during the opening of a 2026 orientation training on the Development Cooperation Framework, held in Dar es Salaam.
Bade said that participation from development partners, government institutions, the private sector and civil society organisations was vital to ensuring development resources delivered real results for the country. He stressed that a shared understanding of systems and processes was essential to ensure development assistance matched national priorities and was managed with transparency and accountability.
Yusuph Ibrahim, Zanzibar's Commissioner for External Finance, said the training had improved participants' understanding of how development assistance should align with national priorities and strengthen government planning and budgeting. He called on participants to apply what they had learned and urged stakeholders to maintain partnerships built on cooperation and mutual accountability to achieve Tanzania's development goals.
