Tanzania's Minister of State in the President's Office for Planning and Investment, Prof. Kitila Mkumbo, has invited Turkish investors to fund strategic projects in the country as part of a drive to increase bilateral trade with Turkey to 1 billion US dollars.
Prof. Mkumbo made the call during talks with a delegation from the Turkish Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association in Dar es Salaam. He said Turkish investment in strategic sectors could drive economic growth and deepen private sector cooperation between the two nations.
The government pledged to provide necessary support to facilitate Turkish investments and help achieve shared economic development goals. Turkey's Ambassador to Tanzania, Dr Bekir Gezer, attended the meeting alongside senior government officials.
Both sides agreed to begin implementing resolutions from the talks, with a focus on strengthening investment ties and expanding private sector involvement in economic activities. For Tanzanian businesses and savers, increased Turkish investment and trade could generate employment and economic opportunities, though the outcome depends on projects that materialise.
