Central Bank's property assets fall in value by Sh466m

Buildings and land purchased by the Central Bank of Kenya last year are now worth less than what was spent on them.

The Central Bank of Kenya has recorded a Sh466 million decline in the value of its property holdings. According to the central bank, buildings and two parcels of land that it acquired in the previous year have been valued below their original construction and purchase costs.

The drop in asset values affects the bank's overall balance sheet and asset position. The properties in question were among the central bank's recent acquisitions.
