Nigeria telehealth conference to shift focus to implementation

The Nigerian Telehealth Conference 2026 will bring together government officials, policymakers and healthcare professionals to address funding and infrastructure gaps.

The Nigerian Telehealth Conference 2026 will pivot from discussions to nationwide implementation of digital healthcare services, the event's organiser has announced. The conference, known as NTC 2.0, takes place on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the Afreximbank African Trade Centre in Abuja, with both in-person and virtual attendance available. Dr Funmi Adewara, the conference convener, said the gathering aims to move stakeholders from conversations and commitments towards practical action on expanding telehealth across Nigeria.

The event will bring together government leaders, policymakers, regulators, healthcare professionals, technology innovators, investors and development partners, according to the announcement. The conference theme, "The Future of Healthcare is Connected, CLICK & BRICK," focuses on "Scaling Telehealth: From Policy to Nationwide Implementation." Adewara said the gathering represents a shift in approach. "This year's conference will bring together government leaders, policymakers, regulators, healthcare professionals, technology innovators, investors and development partners to address the critical priorities for scaling telehealth across Nigeria," she said.

Discussions will cover the advancement of the National Telemedicine Guidelines and regulatory frameworks to support telehealth delivery and expansion. Participants will examine how telehealth can be integrated into National Health Insurance Authority reimbursement arrangements and Universal Health Coverage, alongside financing mechanisms and incentives to encourage nationwide adoption. The conference will also explore the use of artificial intelligence, interoperability and digital health infrastructure to support connected healthcare services.

Other priority areas include strengthening healthcare workforce capacity, connecting underserved communities and building public-private partnerships for sustainable implementation. Adewara stressed that progress requires collaboration across the sector. "We cannot build the future of healthcare in silos. Progress requires collaboration, collective action, and the active participation of every stakeholder," she said. Adewara, who is founder and chief executive of Mobihealth International, added that the conference would welcome returning participants and explore ways to collectively increase access to affordable, quality healthcare for Nigerians.

For savers and investors, the conference signals potential opportunities in the telehealth sector as Nigeria works to expand digital healthcare services through policy coordination and public-private partnerships.
