Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba met with representatives of international financial institutions, commercial banks and multinational organisations at Chatham House in London this week. During the meetings, he presented Tanzania's national priorities and economic transformation ambitions under Vision 2050, the government's long-term development framework.
The Prime Minister said Tanzania aimed to shift away from relying on exports of raw agricultural products and minerals towards domestic processing, manufacturing and value addition. He stressed that economic growth must be inclusive, generate jobs and ensure development benefits reach a wider proportion of the population. Dr Nchemba conveyed greetings from President Samia Suluhu Hassan and reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening ties with the UK and international partners.
The discussions with international stakeholders covered investment opportunities, infrastructure financing, regional cooperation and international partnerships. Dr Nchemba told participants that Tanzania had progressed from the planning stage to implementing Vision 2050 and was now actively seeking partners capable of delivering concrete economic results.
