LemFi expands with UK savings, credit and global eSIM

The cross-border financial platform serves over two million customers and processes around $1 billion in monthly transactions across more than 30 countries.

LemFi has launched its largest product expansion to date, adding UK savings accounts, credit facilities and data eSIMs across more than 100 destinations to its existing international money transfer service. The fintech company, which serves more than two million customers, announced the expansion alongside a rebuilt mobile app and new global brand identity called 'Ambition has no passport'. The platform now consolidates international transfers, savings, credit and mobile connectivity in a single account for people managing financial lives across multiple countries.

The company's UK savings offering provides an Instant Access Savings Account paying 5% annual equivalent rate for the first six months, then reverting to 3.04% AER, which tracks the Bank of England base rate. Accounts open from £1 with no withdrawal penalties, and deposits are held by ClearBank and protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme up to £120,000 per eligible depositor. The credit product is a revolving credit line available as a virtual card through Apple Pay and Google Pay, issued through Pillar, an FCA-regulated credit provider that LemFi acquired in 2025. Eligible customers can view their Equifax credit score in the app at no cost.

LemFi processes around $1 billion in monthly transactions and operates in more than 30 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe and beyond. The company plans to expand to additional countries next year. Co-founder and CEO Ridwan Olalere explained the rationale for the expansion, stating that many customers are building careers and businesses in one country while supporting family in another, yet the financial system treats them as if they can only operate in a single location.

The mobile app has been rebuilt from the ground up to accommodate multiple products across multiple countries within one account rather than adding them to an existing transfer application. The redesign aims to make products more discoverable and create an architecture that allows the company to add new services as it expands. The new brand identity, spanning the app interface, website and marketing channels, reflects LemFi's evolution from a remittance service into a broader financial platform. Savings and credit products launched in the UK first, with expansion to other markets to follow.

For savers and borrowers in Nigeria and across the region who use cross-border financial services, this means more options to manage money held in the UK while maintaining access to international transfers and global connectivity from a single platform. LemFi has raised more than $85 million from investors including Highland Europe, Left Lane Capital, Palm Drive Capital, Endeavor Catalyst and Y Combinator since its founding in 2021.
