Ethiopian property firm offers 20m birr house as creative award prize

Aman Properties has become the main sponsor of a TikTok competition, awarding a residential home worth 20 million birr to the winner.

A property developer in Ethiopia is offering a house worth 20 million birr as the grand prize for a social media competition, marking a significant shift in how major awards are structured in the country. Aman Properties has become the official sponsor of the G Power TikTok Creative Award, organised by Qirnfud Events, with the residential property located in Bisrate Gebriel, Addis Ababa. The prize represents a step beyond the cash awards and vehicles offered in previous years, according to the sponsorship agreement formalised at an official signing ceremony.

The G Power TikTok Creative Award has grown substantially since its launch. Qirnfud Events said the competition has become a major platform for young Ethiopian digital creators, transforming short-form video content into nationwide recognition. Last year, the organisers awarded a brand-new car to the top winner, demonstrating the increasing value placed on creative talent. The decision to offer a house this year underscores how the prize has evolved alongside the competition's reach.

Aman Properties Chief Executive Officer Biniyam Wendimu said the company decided to sponsor the award because of the growing influence of social media personalities. He explained that supporting young people who use their platforms for positive causes and to make constructive contributions to society was important to the company. The choice of a house as the grand prize also reflects Aman Properties' belief in the value of homeownership, according to the company.

Zenaw Abdi, the company's Marketing and Sales Director, said that by awarding a house to a young creator, the firm was recognising achievement while investing in the next generation. He added that alongside its real estate developments, Aman Properties intends to continue supporting social initiatives that contribute to the development of young people and the country. Qirnfud Events Managing Director Mekdem Dereje said the organisation had reviewed Aman Properties' track record, credibility and performance in construction and real estate before selecting it as principal partner.

For a winning creator, owning a home in Bisrate Gebriel, one of Addis Ababa's sought-after locations, offers more than recognition on an awards stage. It represents the opportunity to establish a home and build towards a future of their own. Aman Properties is currently developing four modern housing projects across Addis Ababa in Kazanchis, Bisrate Gebriel and Sar Bet, with announced plans for additional developments in Bole, Teklehaimanot, Piassa and other parts of the capital.

For young creators in Ethiopia, winning this award now means the possibility of owning an asset in a major residential location rather than receiving cash or temporary recognition. The sponsorship demonstrates how private companies are increasingly investing in youth talent and social initiatives while expanding their visibility in Ethiopia's growing digital economy.
