The government has allocated 961.2 billion shillings to major health institutions for the second quarter of the financial year.

Uganda's Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development released 961.2 billion shillings to key health-sector institutions for the October-to-December quarter as part of the government's second-quarter expenditure programme announced on October 15, 2026. The health allocation forms part of a total of 21.82 trillion shillings released across public institutions during the same period.

The Ministry of Health received the largest share at 416.5 billion shillings, while the National Medical Stores was allocated 284.7 billion shillings to support the procurement and distribution of medicines and medical supplies. The Uganda Cancer Institute and Uganda Heart Institute received a combined 165.5 billion shillings, and national and regional referral hospitals were allocated 94.5 billion shillings.

The funding falls under the government's Human Capital Development priorities framework. The broader allocation also included 154.6 billion shillings for the Ministry of Education and Sports, 209.1 billion shillings for public universities and 260.5 billion shillings for the National Council of Sports.

The health-sector releases are intended to support improved access to healthcare, reliable supplies of essential medicines, stronger referral services and specialised treatment for conditions including cancer and cardiovascular disease.
